From the working library of Ruth Manning-Sanders

Lots 400—445 comprise part of the working library of Ruth Manning-Sanders. This poet turned folklorist understood the powerful attraction of folktales for readers and set her sights on entertaining children. She believed it was every child's birthright to enter a world of enchantment and occasional terrors, where good always triumphs over evil.

This collection contains books from her early research, which predated her children's stories, along with books about fairytales, folklore and Gypsy traditional tales. You will find highly collectible books with West Country themes, original works about life travelling with a circus, and (of course) a large number of some of the ninety works this hugely influential author produced in her creative lifetime, many of which contain her ‘owner’s inscription’ to the free front endpapers.
