We are proud to offer an in-house postage and packing service for all of our sales (excl. weekly Home & Garden sales). 


 

How much does delivery cost?

To view the estimated delivery cost, simply click on the lot you're interested in and select the 'Shipping' tab.

 

How do I add postage to my invoice?

Login to your account at www.davidlay.co.uk. Choose 'View account' from the drop-down menu, then 'Invoices & Settlements', here you have an option to 'Add shipping' to your invoice.


What if my item is lost or damaged in transit?

Lay’s takes responsibility for all items that sold for a hammer price of over £250* until they are received by you. In the event of loss or damage occurring during transit that is covered under our Policy of Insurance with Beazley Furlonge Limited/Connoisseur Underwriting we are responsible to you. We will work with you and our insurers to reach a mutually acceptable solution. An excess of £250 applies to each claim.

Lays does not take any responsibility for items that sold for a hammer price of £250 or less. However, we will assist buyers in claiming the cost of lost or damaged item(s) from the relevant courier if Lay's arranged for the items to be sent to you**.

If you arrange your own carriage, Lays takes no responsibility for items once they leave our site.

 

*Subject to a cap of £10,000, but this can be increased on a case-by-case basis. Please fill in the bespoke quote form below or email postage@davidlay.co.uk for further details.

 **Not including items excluded from Parcelforce compensation cover.  Please see Parcelforce Conditions of Carriage for details of excluded goods.

 

How long does it take?

We usually dispatch items within 2 working days of receiving payment but please allow up to 10 working days.

 
Can I track my item?

Yes, you'll receive a tracking number via email as soon as it has been dispatched to the courier.

 
Do you send furniture?

We don't currently offer shipping on furniture but we do work regularly with local and nationwide carriers who will be happy to quote and deliver your item(s) following the sale.

 
Do you ship internationally?

Yes, please email postage@davidlay.co.uk with the lot number and address and we can provide you with an international postage quote.

 
Can I return my item?

For items bought via 'live auction', we do not accept returns. For items bought via 'timed auction', customers have up to 14 days to return their purchase. More information regarding returns can be found in our Buyer Terms.
