Why sell antiques or collector’s items by Auction?

The reason that an auction will nearly always prove the most successful method of sale is that your possessions will be laid before a vast number of potential buyers worldwide. We, acting as your agents, will have sole aim of achieving the optimum price with a combination of careful research and cataloguing, marketing and a wide knowledge of market values.

How can we arrange to include our items in your sale?

Simply contact us at enquiries@davidlay.co.uk or bring your items into the auction house. We will identify them and give a sale estimate. If you wish to proceed with the sale we give you a receipt and they will be included in the next appropriate sale.

How long will I have to wait before my entries are sold?

We have weekly household sales and quarterly Specialist, Antiques or Fine Art so depending on the sale calendar, the average time between entering items and sale is between 2 and 4 weeks.

How can you help when we need to dispose of an entire house contents?

In most houses there are certain items which the family consider to be of value but we so often find that there are many interesting small items which together are worth a considerable sum and frequently it is these that are thrown out. When called in to examine a house contents we look out for all valuable pieces and advise our clients accordingly.

Who do you recommend for house clearances?

We have been working with Crago Moves for over 20 years and we recommend them for any clearance or collection jobs.
